Deep south

I'm off to Aruba tomorrow for a week-long fashion shoot. Eeeeeekkkkk!! SO excited. Spent the whole day stuffing about a million dresses and shoes into 4 suitcases - a mean feat I can tell you. I dread to think about the clothing explosion that will happen when we open them at the hotel...

Here are some amazing pics of Bregje Heinen as Miss Oklahoma in Numero magazine #111 that put a smile on my face today. I looove the colour green, it's my absolute favourite, and never has a proud, emerald cactus looked so good next to a pretty blonde cowgirl and a whole array of Miu Miu delights. Ride 'em, Cowboy!

Speak again upon my return xxxx

Swooooon

I can't stop poring over the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear Look Book (I nabbed it while work experiencing at The Times, hoping one day I will able to afford such beautiful garments). The blogisphere's going crazy for their pretty as pie, kooky and delicious pieces too.

L'amore

This time next week it will be Valentines Day. The day where Mr Paper-Chase and little Miss Scribbles rub their inky fingers together with glee as the bumper crop comes in from their annual paper harvest. I'm not a particular fan of Valentines Day. Even moreso than Christmas (just...) it reeks of commerical smultz, money pilfering and cheese. A helluva-lotta cheese. And, the greatest argument against it is that surely, if you love someone you should tell them every day, not just on February 14th?

I may not be sprinting to the shops to load up on bucket-loads of chocolatey hearts and mini cupcakes that say "I ♥ U" on them (puke). But I'm still excited about having a lovely, special day with the boy I love. Which will hopefully include watching back-to-back horror films, cooking spag bol, and munching on sweets - with not one shiny balloon or Care Bear in sight. I cannot WAIT.

Sweet like candy

With the noughties far behind us (well, a week or two), we are now well in 2010. And as anyone who has been reading Elle, Vogue and the like recently, it's the year of soft, buttery shades and delicious, ice-cream hues… Say goodbye to black, the pastel shade is back!

The ever-classic romantics Valentino, Chloe and Dior have championed these girlicious tones for ions, and continue to do this season - with even more designers following suit. And it’s not just the colour that’s going all Marie Antoinette on us. Textures are oh-so-dreamy too. Ruffles, pleats, satins and the floatiest flyaway fabrics designed to woo and romance are the spring/summer ready to wear of choice. There’s Louise Goldin’s fluttery, Japanese fan-inspired pale yellow designs, (she’s got a spiked and studded footwear collection For Topshop in stores next month by the way – look out!), Burberry Prorsum’s multi-chiffon layers in soft azure and mint, and Michael Kors’ sheeny, satin separates in the softest lilac tones making us go all weak at the knees and dreaming of days lying idly by the pool.

However, these watercolour shades won't suit all of us. I, for one, would look distinctively sallow in a baby pink or pale yellow frock. More ‘verging on death’ than ‘angelic and beautiful’ – until I get a tan that is! So I will leave it up to Mary-Kate and Sienna to wear this look for me. The ladies doth wear their baby shades so well.

Ruffle my feathers

"Give feminine Thirties sillouettes (sharp shoulders, nipped-in waists) a playful edge with Surrealist ruffles, scandalous shoes and shots of signature pink." Fierce!

Such an awesome day today! Assisted on a super-hetic, 11-hour shoot, helping out with styling,
setting-up, props, coordingating products - anything and everything to keep me running around and busy all day - but it was amazing! I felt really confident and seemed to take to it like a duck to water. I was on a high for hours afterwards! Ahhh, if only I could keep this work experience job...
